Mathematics Lesson Plans and Applets for Teachers and Students

Math Tools for Teachers:

Using the programs Geogebra, Winplot, WMC Grapher, and more, I have created several lesson plans and applets accessible to anyone with internet connection. Geogebra is a program that is perfect for Geometry, making shapes, working with angles, and graphing. Winplot is more useful for graphing purposes-- graphing derivatives, finding roots and extremas, etc. WMC Grapher is also good for graphing and adding text to graphs when making homework/tests.

>> To download any of these programs, click on the links above and follow the installation directions. All are great technological tools to have and use!!!

Along with the lesson plans are applets that students can access at home to reinforce what they learned in class and help with any homework assignments.

Students are able to re-walk themselves through the steps of a problem/concept and understand anything they may have missed in class.

Math Lessons:
Click on any of the follow links to see a particular lesson plan with Instructions.

Lesson on Dividing a line segment into five equal pieces
Lesson on Planar transformations
Lesson on Solving a system of linear inequalities

The applets that go along with each lesson are available below for students to access at home.

These applets are interactive, meaning students can drag a slider to see individual steps, can move certain parts of geometric shapes, and can plug their own equations into the programs. Applets are very useful tools for follow-up assignments and homework problems for students. Although Winplot cannot be interactive on the webpage, students can still use the applet to check graphing assignments--This is especially useful for the particularly icky functions that do not show up the way we want them to on the TI graphing calculators.

Math Tools for Students:

In order to review and enforce what we learned in class, here are several interactive applets that you can access anytime. Just click on the link of any lesson you want, and you will be able to click and drag the slider to walk through the steps one at a time (the ones using Geogebra). Also, some of the points, lines, and shapes are moveable, so feel free to drag these parts around to get a better understanding of how the concept works. Often, the principle holds even when the shape is changed.

You can take your time understanding how we get from one step to the next. Each step has an explanation that will hopefully help when doing homework assignments!

I also have some homework solutions posted here so you can review your answers.

Applet on Dividing a line segment into five equal parts
