Exploring the Slope Triangle (WS 2)

Below you see a line and its equation.

Note: Write down all your answers on a sheet of paper.
  1. The red triangle is called "slope triangle" of the line. Describe how to draw it using the coordinate axes as well as the origin and point M.
    Hint: You can check the correct order of your construction steps.
  2. Look at the equation of the line. How is the equation connected to the slope triangle? Write down your assumption and check it for at least 3 different positions of point M.
  3. Try to write the equation of the line in a more general form. Use the name “rise” for the vertical and “run” for the horizontal leg of the triangle.
  4. Get more information about the slope of a line.
